The ActivCellpen uses dielectric materials, i.e. materials that are weakly or not at all conductive, which allow discharge pulses to be transferred to a conductive surface such as human skin.<\/p>\n<p>The resulting cold plasma comprises numerous physical and chemical components. Due to their non-specific mechanism of action, a development of resistance is impossible. Cold plasma can therefore also be used successfully against multi-resistant micro-organisms such as <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> (MRSA in humans) and <em>Staphylococcus pseudointermedius<\/em> (MRSP in animals).
